    A program oriented around global issues that brings arts-based workshops to children and youth.  Numerous local artists  provide dynamic workshops  in a variety of arts: Hip Hop Dance, Slam Poetry, Theatre, Video and more. A Festival is held at the end of the program showcasing their efforts!

Documentary Panel and Film Discussion
"Never Come Back: A Year in the Life of the Roma in Canada"

Please join us for our first screening of the year, the locally-produced documentary on Roma refugees, Never Come Back by Karl Nerenberg. 


Following the screening, a panel discussion on Canada's Refugee Policy vis à vis the Roma will take place, featuring guest speakersPeter Showler, former chair of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, Jack Jedwab, head of the Association for Canadian Studies and associate producer of the documentary, and Karl Nerenberg, the filmmaker.

Although the focus of the film is a year in the life of the Roma community in Canada (in Toronto and Hamilton) we also travelled to Hungary and the Czech Republic to examine with our own and our own camera's eyes the actual situation of the Roma in those countries. Very few Canadian journalists have made that trip to form their own judgement of the human rights situation of the Roma who are fleeing their countries for Canada.  Flmmaker: Karl Nerenberg

The One World Film Festival is always looking for keen volunteers to help out with all aspects of this annual event. The first committee meeting for the 2012 edition already took place but it's never too late to help! For more info, please contact volunteer@oneworldarts.ca.

Question Period (The Musical!) - A success! 

Hit Fringe Fest musical comedy raises the roof on the House of Commons

On February 4, 2012, the irreverent, gut-busting musical comedy, Question Period The Musical returned from its riding in a Coast Guard helicopter (naturally), touching down at Ottawa’s Arts Court Theatre for two sold-out representations.

Voted Fan Favourite at the 2011 Ottawa Fringe Festival, the show that broke audience records kicked off the first weekend of Winterlude and raised da roof of the House of Commons with slam raps, grunge rock, Broadway numbers, subliminal social messaging, and even a classic rock love song to the GST. follow .

Proceeds from the show went to support the work of local charities: The Otesha Project (www.otesha.ca) and One World Arts (www.oneworldarts.ca).
