Doors open at 6:30pm, film starts at 7pm
Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5
Mad City Chickens is a sometimes whimsical, sometimes serious look at the people who keep urban chickens in their backyards. From chicken experts and authors to a rescued landfill hen or an inexperienced family that decides to take the poultry plunge—and even a mad scientist and giant hen taking to the streets—it’s a humorous and heartfelt trip through the world of backyard chickendom. Film is 80 minutes long.
A policy dialogue will follow the film screening. We will be seeking comments, thoughts, and ideas about raising livestock (including chickens) in urban Ottawa. The dialogue will be incorporated into a Just Food project called Food Secure Ottawa. Food Secure Ottawa is a 2 year project that will be making municipal policy recommendations aimed at improving people’s access to foods in Ottawa. We look forward to hearing from you!
